GRS Public School

Advances in technology and communication is changing the world in to a global village. However millions in rural India are denied a place in the global village on account of poor or no education. According to a recent study by Pratham, barely 5 out of 10 children in rural India in standard V can read a basic standard II level text and only 2 out of 10 children in rural India in standard V can solve a three digit sum.

 

I have been incredibly lucky to first hand see the impact of good education. As a young child, I used to walk ten kilometers every day to reach the nearest school. My father sent me to Sainik School when I was eleven years old – a quality education there and at National Defence Academy (NDA) and Indian Military Academy (IMA) helped me become a Brigadier in Indian Army and create a successful business post retirement. Despite moving from cantonment to cantonment, my dedication to quality education helped my children graduate from world class institutions like King George's Medical University (KGMU), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),  Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management (IRITM)​, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Harvard Business School (HBS)

 

My vision is that every child in rural India gets the same opportunity that my children and I got to become successful global citizens. The first step in the journey is GRS Public School near my family village of Tarwan Sriram in Eastern UP. The school is dedicated to my father Late Shri Gorakh Rai Sharma - a staunch believer in the power of good education. We started in academic year 2014-15 and are rapidly growing. This journey cannot be completed alone so I hope many of you will join and support me in this endeavour.
